Who are the Champions League top scorers right now?
The players at the top of the table above are the current Champions League top scorers. The list is ranked by goals, with each player’s club and number of appearances beside the name. Because the data refreshes automatically, you do not need to wait for a new article to see the latest leaders.
Check back after each matchday. Meanwhile, you can follow games as they happen on live scores, or open the Champions League hub for the league phase table, fixtures and results.
How are Champions League goals counted in this table?
The table counts goals scored in the Champions League in the 2026-27 season, with penalties included. An own goal is not credited to the player who scored it. Goals in domestic leagues and cups do not count, so a hat-trick for a club in the Premier League will not move a player up this list.
The data feed we use counts the competition as a whole. As a result, goals scored in the qualifying rounds can appear in a player’s total, which is why a forward from a club that came through qualifying can sit alongside the stars of the biggest clubs early in the season. Players level on goals share the same total, so treat equal numbers as a shared position.
How do I read the Champions League top scorers table?
Each row shows the player, his club, his appearances and his goals. The goals column decides the order, while appearances add context. A striker with five goals in three games is scoring at a faster rate than one with five in seven, even though both are level in the table.
The club beside each name also matters. A forward from a side that plays more games, for example because it came through qualifying, has had more chances to score than a player whose club has only played the league phase. Compare goals per game, not just the total, before you judge who is in the best form.
How does the league phase affect the scoring race?
The Champions League league phase has 36 clubs, and each plays eight games against eight different opponents. That is fewer games than a domestic season, so the scoring race is short and one hat-trick can change the top of the table.
After the league phase, the top eight clubs go straight to the round of 16, while the clubs in ninth to 24th play a knockout play-off round. The clubs below 24th are out. Because knockout rounds add extra games for the clubs that survive, the players at those clubs can keep adding to their totals after the league phase has finished.
Why do the top scorers matter for the knockout rounds?
Goals decide ties, and the leading scorers are often at the clubs chasing a place in the top eight. Finishing there saves a club the extra play-off round, which means two fewer games and more time to rest. A reliable finisher can be worth a few places in the table, and that has a direct effect on the draw for the later rounds.
It is also a useful guide when you look at the league phase table. Clubs near the top often have one or two players who score regularly, while sides lower down can depend on a single attacker. That is why a scorer can matter as much to a club fighting to stay alive as to one pushing for the top eight.
How does this compare with English domestic scorers?
Several players in this table also feature in the domestic races, so it helps to compare. Our Championship top scorers table shows the goals race in the second tier, and the Premier League hub covers the top flight. A player can lead one table and be well down another, because the games, opponents and minutes are different.
Where does the data come from?
The numbers come from API-Football, a licensed football data provider, and refresh about every 30 minutes. We do not edit the figures by hand. If a goal is reallocated after a game, for example when it is changed from one player to another, the table updates when the feed does. Our editorial policy explains how we handle data and corrections.
